Just A Small Look Back

I know it's a new year and all...but we have to take a quick look back at Christmas 2010. Mom flew down to Houston to help me drive back up to Iowa. We loaded up the dogs in the backseat of the Eos and away we went. We had good driving conditions all the way home. We stopped the first night in Dallas and stayed with Nicole and Patrick and then spent 12 hours the next day in the car to make it to Iowa. Here are the dogs in their seat belts all ready to go....they were great little travelers.

We got home just in time...about two days after we arrived we got about 6-8 inches of snow...so we had a white Christmas.

We spent Christmas Eve at my parents....Nathan was excited to see the dogs...he hadn't seen them since October.

I gave him a personalized picture from artist Jim Tweedy for the new clinic.

Mom gave Nathan a really cool T-shirt quilt made with all of his fraternity shirts from college. Impressive!! He was really excited!

I received a nice array of gifts...Santa is always good to me.

Adam and Teresa got matching sweatshirts.

Mom got a new Kindle....as she is an avid reader. Wrigley is enjoying some special lap time.

Right before Thanksgiving Dad was castrating calves and got kicked in the arm...fracturing his ulna. He's been in a cast ever since...but his doc says it's healing!

Gma Jean sporting her new matching scarf and hat...she just turned 90 years old...and is still as feisty as ever!

Mom was cleaning out the basement and found a box of Adam's old stuff from jr. high...including his hand cast after breaking his hand in 9th grade football....gross!!! So he and dad had to show off their casts together.

Over on Nathan's side of the family...Nathan decided he wants to dress up like Santa every year for the little ones....so here is his transformation into Kris Kringle. We bought his costume last year after Halloween but forgot to bring it home...and we would have forgotten it this year too if it hadn't been for moving and coming across the box while I was cleaning out a closet.

And of course the little kids loved it....Ryker is 2 and Zaley is 3 and neither of them were scared at all...Zaley squealed quite a bit when she saw him. They both ran up to get hugs and of course their presents.

The new babies (August and Vienna) will have to get excited next year....they slept through most of the action.

The Sunday after Christmas we took out the snowmobiles....really cold...but really fun! Here's our self portrait....can you tell I'm smiling? Ha!

New Year's Eve we went to dinner at the Anamosa Winery with Aaron and Elise, Nick and Bridget, and Buschy....afterwards, those without children headed to Iowa City for more libations. We spent the night at the Sheraton in the ped mall. We enjoyed hanging with Buschy before he had to head back to Washington DC.

Happy New Year!
