We spent the last week on our first family vacation. We spent the week in Destin, Florida. I rented a condo from VRBO.com and we had a great time. I wasn't quite ready to brave flying with Vivian just yet...plus we would need a carseat and other baby paraphernalia so Mom and I road tripped it. It took about 16 hrs total and really wasn't too bad of a trip. Vivian did fairly well riding in the car. The second day in the car was more trying than the first...but who could blame her? One of us ended up having to sit in the back with her to provide a constant stream of toys to entertain her.
A selfie before heading out Thursday morning...
We stopped halfway in Memphis, TN to spend the night. My girl and her suitcase. We soon figured out that we only needed to bring about 1/2 of what we packed!
We narrowly missed severe weather in Arkansas and a major traffic jam on the interstate because of it. We picked up Dad and Nathan at the Pensacola airport. We stayed here in Destin....it was beautiful!!
The view from our balcony...
We were on the 8th floor...can you see us on our balcony (tiny blue dot?)? We loved sitting out here anytime day or night. The sound of the ocean was great and the ocean breeze was even better.
One of my fave pics...
Baby feet in the sand...
We did nothing all week but sit on the beach. There were lots of naps taken!
Vivian seemed to really enjoy the pool. She would kick those little legs like crazy in her float.
She was so good and would sit on the blanket and play with her toys and entertain herself.
She loved the bubbles in the kiddie pool.
She wasn't quite sure what to think of the waves and sand but warmed up to them by the end of the week.
We ate two meals out total during the week....two! It was great! Like any other resort community...the traffic was horrible, so it was nice to not have to go anywhere for anything.
For the most part we had fantastic weather. It was a bit breezy on the beach but that made the waves that much more fun! We had two mornings that were kinda cloudy and rainy but by the afternoon we had blue skies.
Nathan humored me as we took family photos on the beach our last night.
I'm hoping to make this an annual tradition!
